4 Navigation data

4.1. Cookies

We use cookies or similar technologies to analyse trends, administrate the website, track users’ movements around the website and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.

We use cookies to help you personalise your online experience. A cookie is a text file placed on your hard drive by a web server that is uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by the web server in the domain that issued the cookie for you. Cookies are not used to run programmes or deliver viruses to your computer. One of the main purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a particular page. For example, a cookie helps us remember your specific information on subsequent visits if you make customisations while visiting our website. A cookie allows the website to save data about your visit so that your next visit is easier and the website more useful to you.

You have the option to accept or reject cookies. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to reject cookies, you may not be able to fully experience any interactive features on our website. WERKS keeps track of the pages you visit on our website, to determine which part of the website is the most popular or widely used. This information may be used to deliver customised content and promotions within the site to customers whose behaviour indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.

4.2. Log files

We may collect demographic data, such as your postcode, age, gender, preferences, interests and favourites, using log files that are not associated with your name or other personal data. Some information about your computer hardware and software is also automatically collected by us. This information may include, but is not limited to, your IP address, browser type, domain name, internet service provider (ISP), the files displayed on our website (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), operating system, click data, access times, and reference URLs. This information is used by WERKS for the operation of the website and to provide general statistics on the website usage. For these purposes, we link this automatically collected information to personal data such as name, e-mail address, home address and telephone number.

4.3. Clear Gifs (Web Beacons / Web Bugs)

We use a software technology called clear gifs (also known as Web Beacons/Web Bugs), which helps us to better manage the website by informing us which content is most effective. Clear gifs are small graphics with a unique identifier, similar to cookies, and is used to track the movements of online users. Unlike cookies, which are stored on the hard drive of a user’s computer, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on web pages or in emails. We use clear gifs in our HTML based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to measure the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. We link the information collected through clear gifs in emails to our customers’ personal information. If you wish to opt out of these emails, please see the “Unsubscribe” section below.

4.4. Third party tracking technologies
